A Legacy Built With Our People

For more than 80 years, Boyer Paper Mill has been a cornerstone of the Derwent Valley. Since producing Australia’s first newsprint in 1941, Our Mill has supported thousands of Tasmanian families and helped shape the communities around us.

Our commitment to the Derwent Valley runs deep in history:

• In the early 1950s, low cost housing 325 homes were built for Boyer employees in New Norfolk and 119 homes were constructed in Maydena to support families moving to the areas for work.
• Recreational and sporting facilities were developed for employees — many of which are still used by the community today including Boyer Oval, tennis courts a swimming pool and a local kindergarten.
• Generations of Tasmanian families have worked at Boyer, contributing to a proud and long-standing local workforce.

Boyer has always been more than a workplace — it’s been a foundation for community, connection, and family.

Our commitment continues through the Boyer Mill Vision Team, a group dedicated to creating positive change locally and within our workforce.
